service interruption 12/08/08

Today I’m investigating zhiing: a Location based service and brightkit (not brightkite): a twitter tool box.

After an investment of an afternoon I have the following synopsis:

Zhiing offers a non soc-net version of location based communication.  Its not abot your friends on the service, its just about friends.  You want them where you are, zhiing helps you get them there.

Brightkit doesn’t seem to offerstime release posting of tweet and auto replys as well as a handfull of other options.

I’m biased since I’m part of the zhiing team, but two thumbs up for us!

We’re releasing an update for Blackberry later this week and it’s even better than the iPhone version.

We’ve got some other surprises in the works as well!

Signed up for brightkit, but not sure of how’s it going to work yet.

Downloaded Zhiing for my iphone last week. I’ve started using it instead of iphone’s Google Maps app because I don’t have to enter start and end data. Zhiing automatically pulls this from GPS for both sender and recipient so I can send somebody interactive map via SMS and don’t even have to know their location.
