Had a pretty solid weekend, nothing over the top. Friday I put a little card game together with friends, it ran pretty late but everyone had a good time. Saturday we went out to celebrate Charlie’s taking the LSATs and meandered around Dupont for a while.
I ran into a girl I knew from Highschool (small world) and after catching up for a while we also realized that she knew one of the guys I was out with (very small world). We made plans to get together sometime after LG gets back so hopefully that will work out sometime before we fly south for the winter.
Grabbed dinner with Tierra and Will last night at Old Glory, awesome BBQ. Then headed back to the house. Will, both Andy Coopers, and Esther were in attendance as we watched some football and relaxed. Good night.
Just got back to DC. Had dinner with Will, Charlie, Cooper, and Harell. Went to Etete out in the U Street corridor for some awesome Ethiopian, then retired back to the house to hang out. Closed out the night watching WSOP with Will, now I’m ready to crash. Good to be back in D.C.
I’ve spent some time today teaching myself Photoshop, as the new CS4 is out it seemed like a worthwhile endeveour as this is gives me the maximum amount of time before the next release. I’m a novice, so be nice, but I have managed thus far to correct the following photo:
In Syracuse, NY today and tomorrow with LG. We are currently hanging in her apartment. working on our respective shenanigans. Anyone following my brightkite feed will notice that we automobiled ourselves to this upstate locale, which was a 5 hour cruise through the bleak mediated by a couple stops for gas and fluids and a run to Barnes and Noble for some books.
LG is a touch under the weather, so we’ll probably hang in and make dinner and then call it an early night. Grandma and Grandpa are back!
Some time ago i converted LG over to Macs. Needless to say she has never looked back, and I get a kick out of her stories about talking up her new comp with classmates and that sense of pity, like looking at a confused kindergartner eating glue off of the lefty scissors, that we feel when we see people plugging away on their Dell or worse, Gateway. Tonight though, i knew her devotion to the brand was complete, when as we watched a movie about a self aware machine attemting to overthrow the US government (i cant bring myself to type the title, it was a pretty awful movie) the future mother of my children looks to me and says, “that would never happen with a Mac.”
been meddling with my brightkite (if you need an invite let me know, I have a few remaining) and twitterfeeds today, as well as lamenting the loss of Sandy. Bittersweet to learn that shes been bought out by twitter, perhaps her spirit will live on…
those in the know will understand when I say I’m psyched that we have a location for the wedding finalized. Allegria Hotel in NY. We met with the Wedding Coordinator/Owner this afternoon, and she definitely has a vision.
The ceremnoy will be on the rooftop overlooking the ocean, the entire roof is designed to feel like the Delano in South Beach which Is one of the best spots in Miami. Then we head downstairs to the ballroom and lounge for the reception. It’s gunna be slick.
Couched in LG’s den, just had a round of leftovers and watched a terrible movie I’d rather not admit to.
Now LG and I are watching office re-runs and planning out the rest of the weekend.
Just got off the train from DC to Ny: on my way to LGs for thanksgiving.
Joy (lgs mom) makes a mean spread so I am looking forward to a quiet, well fed day of giving thanks.
I may even drag the team to the mall on friday for the apple black Friday sale, more to come on that.
Got back at 6:02 AM after a hellish flight from Vegas to SFO to Dulles. Word to the wise, don’t mess with your flights, just stick with what you are on, or pay the consequences.
In other news Vegas was fun, as always it was good to see a lot of old friends and get some quality work done vis-a-vis the board meeting.
Now I’m back in the office, cracking through some stacks of paperwork and getting mail out as well as a couple calls from vendors and such about post election plans.
Charlie and I landed in vegas this morning. Dropped off at the hotel and prepped for an afternoon meeting. It’s chillier here then expected, but still a welcome change from the flurries coming down in D.C.
I’m sitting in the RDU airport (very nice btw). Catching up on emails and thumbing through my google reader feeds.
Had a great time at MPD’s wedding, it was a really beautiful day, I think they are an awesome couple!
As usual it was great to catch up with Milte, Blake, Tommy and Moffet. Had the added pleasure of seeing Soren and his soon to be wife Amanda and met some other new faces I had long heard about.
Heading back into DC today, and should be home in time to kick back , have a light dinner and watch some football. A very quality end to the weekend if ever there was one.
Got into miami night before last. Been hanging with the lil’ bro, doing the South Beach scene.
Went to Loews and the Deleno last night, today we hit the beach and I picked up a little gift for LG.
Tonights plan is still in the air, hanging with a couple of Daniels friends right now, going to grab a fallafel in a bit and then head out for a night on the town.
Its been pouring since early this morning, the kind of rain that makes doing much toursit stuff difficult. I used the day to catch up on some work, and have a couple meetings this afternoon, so its not a total loss.
On top of that I’m feeling a touch under the weather, so i went and grabbed some meds from a nearby pharmacy.
I’m going to try and make it to Newton Circus after my meeting, and then hopefully the weather (internal and external) will be a bit more coopertaive tomorrow and I’ll get to spend some more time in Chinatown.
Interesting little note about Singapore, they have McDonalds delivery. Just saw a little red clad dude fly past on a scooter. Who knew.
Also, got a couple pics up.
Just had lunch at this awesome restaurant in Little India. I am no slouch when it comes to eating spicy food, but this gave me a run for my money, I had to order a sweet lassi (yogurt based smoothie drink) to make it all the way through.
Everything is served on a giant banana leaf and its encouraged that you eat with your hand (just one, the other is for passing) although my fingers now have a yellow tinge to them. Everything I ate was amazing: If I was here longer I think I’d have to go back and eat there again.
So, if you’re ever on Race Car road (seriously, thats a real street name) and in the mood for Southern Indian, Banana Leaf Apolo is the way to go.
One of the recommended spots to see when you’re in Singapore is Little India, a 10×10 block enclave of Indian culture and cuisine.
After a morning workout, a conference call, and chat with LG that’s where I headed.
I spent the first hour or so browsing store to store, checking out the various wares, including the crafts market called the Little India Arcade.
After getting acquainted, I went over to the marketplace: effectively a huge farmers market with a swath of small food stands at the end.
I found myself an awesome cup of Pakistani coffee, and settled in to watch as people pick through the market doing there Sunday shopping.
After that, off to lunch at the Banana Leaf Apollo, a southern Indian restaurant that comes highly reccomended.
Landed in Singapore a little while ago. First impressions, it is absolutely as clean as people say. All the people have been extremely friendly, and have given a lot of good advice thus far on things to see, experience while I’m here. Should make for a busy few days. But for now, I think I’m going to get something to eat and crash.
Just finished getting through security at San Francisco International, my flight to Singapore takes boards in about an hour. Going to try and grab a bowl of soup and some Tylenol PMs to put me out for the 10 Hour bounce to Hong Kong and the 3 hours puddle jumper after that.
Tried to watch a movie on the flight before, 13 hours in a warehouse on reccomendation from a friend. My conclusion: he is no longer my friend. Total waste of time, I’m embarrassed that I even turned it on.
Meanwhile, just talked to LG, she and momma G are in Florida this weekend checking out the wedding venue for final approval. I’m excited to hear feedback, from the reviews this place looks pretty amazing.
Sitting in Dulles airport, waiting for my flight to San Francisco en route to Singapore.
I leave Thursday at 5:45 pm and arrive saturday at 11:30 am. Thank god I grabbed a bio on TR and an orson Scott card novel to entertain me.
Will catch up on the other side, though it won’t be half as much fun sans iphone.
Doing something I haven’t in a while, going to the movies, 15 to 1 odds I fall asleep in the opening credits.
